What Diamond Shape Should You Choose?
What Cut of Diamond Will Suit Me Best?
There are many steps that go into choosing the perfect engagement ring for you. Something we are very passionate about at Diamonds Direct is finding the perfect diamond for your engagement ring. When choosing a diamond for your ring, one of the most important things to consider is the shape of the diamond and how it looks on your hand. We’ve broken down each of the shapes to help you figure out what will suit you best.
Round - A round cut diamond is a classic choice that suits most. Its classic style offers plenty of sparkle, its brilliance is brought out by the number of facets a round shape creates.
Oval - The elongated diamond can make fingers look slimmer. Oval cut diamonds also tend to show bigger than their carat weight than other shapes. Ovals are also very versatile as they can be set vertically and horizontally, and they look beautiful with halos.
Emerald - This type of diamond has a “hall of mirrors” effect, this means you can see inclusions more easily. Emerald cut diamonds are more unique and compliment vintage style settings but opt for higher clarity when choosing this shape.
Radiant - a radiant cut is perfect for someone who loves the look of the emerald cut or another rectangular cut, but wants more sparkle. It can hide imperfections or inclusions a little better than an Emerald and we’re seeing a HUGE trend increase with radiants for 2025.
Marquise - another elongated shape that will make fingers appear longer. The marquise is a more traditional diamond that’s making the rounds in 2025 as a modern approach to rings. We are seeing these set with very dainty bands (1.5mm) and also thicker heavy duty bands (3mm)
Pear - this versatile stone is also a unique stone that has a variety of setting orientations and options to be set with clusters or solitaire. The pear shape is cut for those who want something different than the rest.
